Chandigarh, April 12- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shri J.P. Dalal today launched the portal for redressal of complaints of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Under this portal farmers can register their complaints. He said that after registering the complaint, they would be given a ticket number, from which they would also be able to know the latest status of their complaint.
Sh. Dalal said that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is being implemented in the state since 2016. Under this Scheme, barley, maize, cotton, paddy and bajra are being insured in Kharif and wheat, gram, mustard and sunflower crops are being insured in Rabi. Under this scheme, about 82.59 lakh farmers got their crops insured from Kharif 2016 to Kharif 2021, out of which insurance claim amount of Rs 5139 crore was distributed to 20.80 lakh farmers till Kharif 2021. He said that soon an amount of Rs 100 crore would be distributed to the farmers towards insurance claim. He said that premium of about Rs 4800 crore was paid while claims of Rs 5139 crore were disbursed. In this way, farmers got an additional benefit of Rs 300 to 400 crore, while premium of about Rs 1500 crore was paid by the farmers.
The Agriculture Minister said that Haryana is one of the few states in the country in which insurance companies have paid claims more than the total premium (which includes farmers’ share, state and central government subsidies). He said that the department is moving in the direction of collecting data and in this episode, today the module of Grievance Settlement in Meri Fasal-Mera Byora has been started for redressal of grievances of farmers. He said that in future also work will be done to add other modules/columns on Meri Fasal-Mera Byora portal for the convenience of farmers and efforts will be made to link them with other platforms so that farmers can get benefits quickly.
He said that the department is making efforts to collect all types of data related to farmers at one platform such as payment of insurance premium, information related to insurance, release of insurance claim etc. He said that this would not only ease the work but would also enable timely insurance benefits to the farmers. He said that in this online facility, the work related to Patwari and other works related to crop damage will also be added.
Apart from this, while requesting the farmers, he said that those farmers who still have not been able to get the benefits of the insurance scheme due to some reason can raise a complaint through this portal. He called upon the farmers to get maximum insurance of their crops so that they can get compensation under the schemes.
He said that Haryana is providing better services to the farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and this insurance scheme is optional for the farmers. Similarly, he said that the Bagwani Bima Yojana has been started recently by the State Government to protect the farmers from risk, which will also benefit them.
He said that the State Government has called upon the farmers to adopt crop diversification and grow more profitable crops which consume less water.
Responding to a question asked by the mediapersons on this occasion, he said that today farmers are getting more than the minimum support price in the market like for mustard from Rs 6200 to Rs 7000, cotton also from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 and tuda (husk) is also being sold in the market at higher prices, due to which the farmers are getting a lot of profit.
Dr. Hardeep Singh, Director General, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
