Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. JP Dalal has directed the officers to explore the possibilities of setting up new warehouses in rural areas under Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Campaign as envisioned by Prime Minister, Sh.  Narendra Modi.

  • Chandigarh, April 6 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. JP Dalal has directed the officers to explore the possibilities of setting up new warehouses in rural areas under Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Campaign as envisioned by Prime Minister, Sh.  Narendra Modi.
  • Sh. JP Dalal was presiding over the review meeting of officers of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board here today.
  • It was apprised during the meeting that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation to set up new warehouses at 11 places in the State. Under this MoU, Warehousing Corporation will construct warehouses on the land of Agricultural Marketing Board and funds will also be taken from NABARD for the construction of warehouses.
  • Sh. Dalal directed the officers of the concerned Department, Board and Corporations to jointly prepare a roadmap while exploring the possibilities of expanding business. He said that there should not be any misunderstanding between the Department and the Corporations involved. He emphasized that the officers should work towards making maximum use of the vacant Government assets for the successful implementation of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign in the field of agriculture.
  • He said that even though Haryana is small in geographical area, it is the second largest producer of food grains in the country. He directed the officers to discuss the matter with Food Corporation of India and Central Warehousing Corporation to construct more warehouses in the rural areas of the State.
  • It was apprised in the meeting that Haryana Land Reforms and Development Corporation has agricultural farms in Gokalpur and Deepalpur Tahna (Rewari), Navan in Narnaul and Shiva in Gurugram where the land is given on lease for seed development. The total land of all these farms is more than 220 acres which can be used to construct warehouse on 5 to 6 acres of land.
  • Chairman, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, Sh. Nayan Pal Rawat, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Warehousing Corporation Ltd, Sh. Rajiv Rattan, Chief Administrator Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Sh. Vinay Singh, Managing Director, Haryana Land Reclamation Development Corporation Ltd, Sh. Hardeep Singh and other senior officers were present during the meeting.
