This is the first and unique initiative taken in government schools in Haryana

Chandigarh, February 27 –  Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi also emphasized inculcating scientific temper in children. Generally, children studying in government schools are confined to the general curriculum. With the setting up of these labs, children belonging to the poorest of the poor families will be able to learn about the mystery of the Universe.
Deputy Commissioner Sh. R.S. Dhillon informed the Chief Minister that in the first phase, Astronomy Labs have been set up at Government Model Sanskriti School and Government Girls Senior Secondary School at distict headquarter and Government Model Sanskriti School in Bawani Khera.
Kalpana Chawla Astronomy Lab will also be set up in Government Model Sanskriti School and Astronomy Lab in the name of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in Government Girls Senior Secondary School.
In this Astronomy Lab, children will be able to study the atmosphere of Earth, moon and stars through a telescope. There is a plan to provide the facility of four telescopes in one lab. This will not only increase the interest in the children but will also increase their scientific knowledge. By increasing general knowledge, the spirit of competition will also develop in the children. In the lab, children will get answers to questions related to the mysteries of the Universe.
In the Astronomy Lab, kids will find answers to every question about the Universe. For this, there will be 25 working models in the lab, so that children will be able to know why the color of the sky is blue? Why do stars shine? Where do the moon and the sun hide? Or why does the sky appear black at night?
These labs have been set up with three main objectives including arousing curiosity amongst students through practical knowledge of space, developing scientific temper in all children from a young age and studying other planets of the solar system by closely looking at them through telescopes and capturing their pictures in the camera.
On this occasion, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. JP Dalal, Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, MP, Sh. Dharambir Singh, MLA, Sh. Ghanshyam Saraf, MLA, Sh.  Bishamber Valmiki and school staff also remained present.
