The Chief Minister said that in the last seven years 68 new government colleges have been established.  Most of which are women’s colleges.

It is the endeavour of the present State Government that the students do not have to travel more than 10 kilometers for their  education.

Sh. Manohar Lal said this while addressing the gathering as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the State Level Science Exhibition organized in the premises of Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government College, Rohtak. Earlier, he  also visited the Exhibition and got detailed information.

Sh. Manohar Lal,  while getting emotional on revisiting his college, said that he is happy to be in the college today as the Chief Guest.  Recalling the memories of 50 years ago, he said that he had joined this college in the year 1970. He said that he would play his role as an alumnus of the college.

The Chief Minister shared that in his college days he had played in this courtyard and also took part in the parade of NCC.

“I am fortunate that in the college where I studied, I have come there today as the Chief Guest,” added Sh. Manohar Lal.

He said that perhaps because of the education and values imparted by this college, he is doing public service as the Chief Minister of Haryana.

He said that educational institutions guide the students to move forward in their lives.

Sh. Manohar Lal  called upon the students to make a goal of doing special work in life. He said that he himself had resolved to do special work in life and today he is doing public service.

Chief Minister said that many steps have been taken by the government to promote education. He said that there are 173 government colleges in the state.

The Government has started the Chhatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana, under which free bus pass facility is provided to the girl students.

He said that efforts are being made by the government that apart from the buses of the Transport Department, a contract will also be signed with private vehicle contractors so as to provide better transport facility to them. For this, a Transport Nodal Officer will be made in every educational institution so that students do not face any inconvenience in commuting in educational institutions, added Sh. Manohar Lal.

He said that 10 smart classes would be started in every college by the government and information technology would be started from class VI. There are 138 Sanskriti Model Schools functioning in the state. Computer education will be imparted in these schools since class I, added the Chief Minister.

There are many universities abroad, which are managed by alumni. This institute should connect the alumni with them and make the institutions financially empowered, said the Chief Minister.

Sh.  Manohar Lal said that the present era is the era of science and Information Technology. Science must have existed even in ancient times.
