Necessary steps will be taken for Air Quality Management – Sanjeev Kaushal

Chandigarh, April 21 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that this year ‘Pusa Decomposer’ will be sprayed on 5 lakh acres of land to destroy stubble in the fields in order to save the environment from its adverse effects. Apart from this, effective steps will be taken to control pollution so that people’s lives are not affected. 17 Dust Control and Management Cells have been established in NCR to control the dust on the road and in open areas.

The Chief Secretary was presiding over a meeting organized on Air Quality Management Control here today. He informed that on one lakh acres of land, Agriculture Department and on 4 lakh acres of land, UPL Company would spray decomposer medicine like last year from CSR funds. Due to its spraying, the residue of paddy crop will be easily eliminated and pollution will not spread, due to which farmers will not have to face any problem at the time of sowing of the next crop.

The Chief Secretary directed that the Deputy Commissioners should work proactively at the district level to impose a complete ban on burning of paddy residue. Apart from this, directions were also given to prepare the annual plan as soon as possible and send it to the headquarters. He said that this year the Agriculture Department would also use the decomposer of Care Pro to eliminate the residue of paddy straw. He said that special attention should be paid towards stubble burning areas in the paddy growing districts like Ambala, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Sirsa.

He also gave necessary instructions to take concrete steps to control vehicle pollution in the National Capital Region. He said that the e-charging stations installed in the state should be taken care of so that people can use them easily. He said that 630 industries out of 1485 industries were converted to PNG to reduce pollution in the industries based in NCR region. Apart from this, 855 industries will be converted to PNG soon so that pollution can be controlled in this area. He said that the Department of Industries will prepare an economic detail project for tarred and non-tariffed pellets MSMEs based on stubble residue. Along with this, every industrialist will also upload his requirements on the portal of Agriculture Department through Environment Engineer.

The Chief Secretary said that seminars should be organized to make industrialists aware about using biomass fuel prepared from stubble. In these seminars, they should be made aware about the subsidy and other benefits given by the government. He also directed to focus special attention towards pollution due to construction work and demolition activities. In the coming season, more and more saplings will be planted to make the area green, he added.

Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Sh. PK Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Smt. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. A.K Singh and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
