Haryana fulfills the target of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ mission

Haryana included in the top 3 best performing states in the country

Chandigarh, April 8 –Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal today congratulated the Public Health Engineering Department for achieving the 100% Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) before the given timeframe. Even though, the Central Government has fixed the deadline to achieve this goal by 2024 but due to the consistent  efforts of the State Government, a target of connecting 100 percent households with ‘Nal Se Jal’ has been successfully achieved in advance by April, 2022. With this, Haryana has also ranked among the top 3 best performing states in the country under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ mission.

Sh. Kaushal was presiding over the 7th Meeting of Apex Committee of State Water & Sewerage Mission Haryana (SWSMH). He directed the officers that before implementing the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) policy, prior discussions and seminars should be conducted. He added that after the brainstorming on the said topic subsequently it should be first implemented as a pilot project.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. AK Singh informed that Haryana has successfully completed the target of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ mission before stipulated time.

Sh. Singh apprised the Chief Secretary regarding the Chief Minister’s recent announcement regarding the online billing of water and sewerage.  He added that the pilot project which was started in panchkula has been successfully implemented across the State.

During the meeting Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering, Sh. A.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Sh. Amit Jha, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Additional Chief Secretary, Women & Child Development Department, Smt. G. Anupama were present.
