Chief Secretary reviews important projects of various departments worth more than Rs 100 crore
Chandigarh, February 3– Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, while presiding over a review meeting of projects worth more than Rs.100 crore with administrative secretaries here today, directed all officers to ensure timely execution of projects. Apart from this, along with appointing officers for the implementation of the projects, directions have also been given to develop software for monitoring the projects so that the projects can be monitored in a time bound manner.
Projects worth about Rs. 7000 crore are being implemented by the Irrigation and Water Resources Department
In the meeting, projects worth Rs. 7,184.67 crore of Irrigation and Water Resources Department were discussed. Giving information about the major projects of Irrigation Department, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Sh. Devender Singh said that this included augmenting the capacity of WJC Carrier System to utilize excess water during monsoon at a cost of Rs.3921.29 crore, enhancement of STP channel capacity from 188.60 MLD to 500.00 MLD to utilize treated waste water of STPs at Dhanwapur and Behrampur (Gurugram) at a cost of Rs.295.80 crore, rehabilitation/replacement of pumps, motors and electro mechanical equipments at various pump houses of JLN feeder, JLN canal, Loharu canal and Mahendragarh canal system with a cost of Rs 110.24 crore, construction of Adi Badri dam on Som river for revival of Saraswati river and construction of Saraswati reservoir at a cost of Rs. 388.16 crore. In addition, micro irrigation projects worth Rs. 1,089.43 crore and deposit work of Rs. 702.06 crore from other departments (NPCIL, PW(B&R) and GMDA) and implementation of Atal Bhujal Yojana at a cost of Rs. 677.69 crores are included.
It was informed in the meeting that the project to increase the capacity of WJC Carrier System to utilize the excess water during monsoon at a cost of Rs. 3,921.29 crore would enable optimum utilization of the available water in river Yamuna during monsoon and the completion of the project would result in optimum utilization of water during monsoon wherein 4000-5000 cusecs of additional water will be available during the period and the availability of water in various carrier systems will also improve.
It was informed in the meeting that Rs 110.24 crore has been earmarked to increase the capacity of water availability in the irrigation system in South Haryana including rehabilitation/replacement of pumps, motors and electro-mechanical equipment at various pump houses of JLN feeder, JLN canal, Loharu canal and Mahendragarh canal system has been undertaken under which 759 pumps will be rehabilitated/replaced. So far 388 pumps have been replaced in the state. The Chief Secretary directed the officers to give wide publicity to this project.
It was informed in the meeting that to utilize the treated waste water of STPs at Dhanwapur and Behrampur (Gurugram) under the project to increase the capacity of STP channel from 188.60 MLD to 500 MLD the capacity of STP channel from STP of Dhanwapur (Gurugram) to outfall drain no.8. will be extended at a cost of Rs 295.80 crore. Micro-irrigation will also be done in 8000 acres of CCA from this treated waste water.
It was informed in the meeting that for the revival and heritage development of the holy river Saraswati, a scheme has been started by the Haryana Government. A project has been made for the construction of Som Saraswati barrage and Saraswati reservoir for the construction of Adi Badri dam on the Som river at a cost of Rs 388.16 crore.
The progress of Atal Bhujal Yojana was also discussed in the meeting. Under this scheme, schemes for groundwater recharge in the dark zones of the state are being implemented in a time bound manner.
Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Finance Commissioner, Sh. PK Das and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
