Chandigarh, February 22:  Haryana Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal is committed to empowering daughters. Ensuring the same, the ‘Aapki Beti Hamari Beti’ scheme is being run by the state government for  a bright future of the daughters.

The objective of this scheme is to bring change in the social attitude towards the birth of girl child, to stop female feticide, to improve the gender ratio and to provide proper education opportunities for every girl child.

One of the most fruitful results of these schemes is that the gender ratio in the State is continuously improving and there has been a positive change in the thinking of the society towards daughters.  Besides this, equal opportunities are also being given to the daughters to rise in their lives.

Divulging more details an official spokesperson said that under this scheme being run by the Women and Child Development Department, an amount of Rs. 21000 is being given to scheduled castes and BPL families living in rural and urban areas on the birth of their first daughter, while on the birth of the second and third daughters belonging to  all categories, the same amount is being invested in Life Insurance Corporation.  A membership certificate is issued by LIC in the name of the beneficiary. This membership certificate is encashed after the girl child completes 18 years, provided the beneficiary girl is unmarried.

The spokesperson said that to take advantage of the scheme, the applicant has to apply online through the Saral Portal (www.saral Haryana.nic.in). For applying, an attested copy of the birth certificate of the beneficiary girl, Parivar Pehchan Patra, ration card, caste certificate (only required for scheduled castes), BPL ID and valid BPL number (only for BPL families) etc. will be necessary.

The spokesperson said that to take advantage of the scheme, the application can be made within one year of the birth of the daughter.  Therefore, all the eligible people must take advantage of the ‘Aapki Beti Hamari Beti’ scheme within a certain period.
