Chandigarh, September 15 – Haryana Health Department’s survey regarding the suspected fever outbreak at Village Chilli and Chilla, SC-Gohpur PHC Uttawar, CHC-Hathin, District Palwal reveals that out of the seven deaths, two deaths were reported to be of children below 5 years of age and five deaths were of children above 5 years of age.
It came to light during the investigations being conducted that the prima facie, probable cause of outbreak could be the unhygienic conditions and illegal drinking water pipe connections that led to contamination of drinking water, however, the final cause of deaths among these children can only be commented upon after completion of Epidemiological Investigation.
Sharing more information in this regard Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Sh. Rajeev Arora said that information regarding suspected fever deaths among children in village Chilli and Chilla District Palwal was received by the District Health Authorities, Palwal and in order to assess the ground situation, District Rapid Response Team was activated by Civil Surgeon, Palwal and sent to the area affected. An Epidemiological investigation was ordered in coordination with WHO representative, he added. Sh. Arora elaborated that the population of the affected villages Chilli & Chilla is 2947 & 763 with total of 186 & 72 households respectively. This outbreak started on September 9, 2021.
Divulging more details he said that the Rapid Response Team visited the affected area on September 12, 2021 to investigate the outbreak and household survey was done wherever deaths were reported. Furthermore, as per ongoing Epidemiological Investigation, House to House active case search for fever cases is being done by the Health Teams and total 1089 houses have been visited and checked till yesterday.
Sharing more details, Sh. Rajeev Arora said that as per ongoing Epidemiological Investigation, House to House active case search for fever cases is being done by the Health Teams. Besides this, all antilarval activities like fogging, water bodies checking etc. are ongoing in the affected area.
Meanwhile, as per the laboratory findings of the area there are all negative reports of 175 Malaria Blood Slides, negative reports of 250 RDT Malaria test reports, non-reactive 12 Dengue ELISA samples, negative reports of 64 RTPCR COVID-19 tests and negative reports of 50 COVID-19 Antigen test.
Elaborating on the probable reason for the outbreak he said that the officials found a leakage in the pipeline of drinking water and Public Health officers have been instructed to repair it at the earliest.
Temporary medical camp has been set up in the area & cases are being treated symptomatically and referred as per the severity.
He specified that the final cause of deaths among these children can only be commented upon after completion of Epidemiological Investigation but prima facie, the Probable Cause of Outbreak could be the unhygienic conditions and illegal drinking water pipe connections that led to contamination of drinking water. Some deaths may be due to pneumonia and gastroenteritis as per records of Nalhad Medical Collage.
Health Department is putting all possible efforts to control the situation in the affected area and as on date the situation is under control. We are keeping a strict vigil on the situation, added Sh. Arora.

Chandigarh, September 15: Haryana Government is running the ‘Haryana Divyang Persons Pension Scheme’ to provide social security to disabled persons and to make them self-reliant and empowered.
The aim of the scheme being run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department is to provide social security to Disabled persons who are unable to sustain themselves with their own resources and are in need of financial assistance from the State.
At present, financial assistance of upto Rs. 2500 is being given as a monthly pension by the state government to the disabled persons as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in the rules of the scheme.
Under this scheme, the individual of age 18 years and above who is a Domicile of Haryana and has been residing in Haryana for the last 3 years at the time of submission of application is eligible. Self income of the person from all sources should not exceed the minimum wages of unskilled labour as notified by the Labour Department.
Under this scheme, persons with a minimum of 60 per cent blindness, low vision, leprosy (cured persons), hearing impairment, locomotor disability, mental retardation and persons with mental illness are eligible. To get the benefits of this scheme, a minimum 60 per cent disability certificate is mandatory.
Divyang, who are getting the benefit of old age pension scheme or widow pension scheme, such disabled people who are working on any government post or who have three-wheelers or four-wheelers can not take advantage of this scheme.
To take advantage of Haryana Divyang Pension Yojana, applicants can apply by visiting E-Disha Center and Atal Seva Kendra. Under this scheme, the eligible beneficiaries are added every month.
