Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that even though the third wave of Covid is definitely knocking at our door, but no one should be fearful. Instead it is important to practice caution and follow guidelines that are set to combat the pandemic.

Chandigarh, January 3– Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that even though the third wave of Covid is definitely knocking at our door, but no one should be fearful. Instead it is important to practice caution and follow guidelines that are set to combat the pandemic.

Sh. Anil Vij, today, started the programme of administering Covid vaccines to children in the age group of 15 to 18 years in the state from the Vaccination Centre set up at SD College, Ambala Cantonment. Earlier, he also duly inaugurated the centre. On this occasion, Sh. Vij also presented certificates to the children who got the Covid vaccine. He informed that from January 10, a vaccination campaign will also be started for frontline workers, healthcare workers and people with co-morbidities above 60 years of age. So far in Haryana, the first dose has been administered to 98 percent people and second dose has been administered to 71 percent of the people. On this occasion, CMOs from across the state also participated in this programme through VC.

The Health Minister said that the world’s largest vaccination campaign is being successfully run in India under the able guidance of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.

Sh. Anil Vij said that he salutes all the doctors, nurses, para medical staff, Asha workers and all other staff of his health department who have made a very important contribution in this war against Covid. However, some people had to lose their lives while doing so. 28 people of the health department have sacrificed their lives while fulfilling their responsibilities. Similarly, 35 people of the police department lost their lives and some people of the municipal bodies also had to sacrifice their lives, but all the people steadfastly fulfilled their responsibility.

The Health Minister said that all arrangements to fight against Covid have been made and whatever is required is being made available in Haryana. When Covid came, there was not a single RTPCR lab in Haryana, today RTPCR labs are established in all the districts except one district where it will soon be set up. Genome sequencing lab has has been started in Rohtak’s MDU.

Sh. Vij said that PSA plants have been commissioned in 84 government hospitals and 54 PSA plants in private hospitals. We have sufficient number of isolation beds, oxygen beds, ICUs, ventilators and also a large number of oxygen concentrators and we have sufficient stock of all the medicines which are used for treatment.

Urging the people of the state to be cautious, the Health Minister said that the government has issued guidelines from time to time to prevent spread of Covid. People should wear masks, follow social distancing, clean hands with soap on time, and not gather in crowd. The Health Minister said that “people should go about their business, and keep in mind the guidelines of the government. He said that in some districts, a time limit has been fixed to close the shops. People should cooperate with the administration.

The Health Minister hoped that the vaccination campaign that has been started from today for children of 15 to 18 years of age will be completed in the next 10 days, as sufficient stock of vaccinations was available and more stock will soon be provided by the Central Government.

Earlier, through video conferencing, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Sh. Rajeev Arora also launched a vaccination campaign.

He gave detailed information about the scheme and congratulated the Health Minister for launching this campaign and informed that today this campaign has started in the entire state. Mission Director, National Health Mission, Sh. Prabhjot Singh, through video conferencing, thanked the Health Minister for starting this campaign.

Deputy Commissioner, Health, Sh. Vikram Singh and Director, National Health Mission, Sh. Randeep Singh Punia, and other administrative officers were also present during the programme.
