Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Om Prakash Yadav said that the specially-abled people of the state will now study free of cost in the State Institute For Rehabilitation Training And Research (SIRTAR) Rohtak.

  • Chandigarh, July 13- Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Om Prakash Yadav said that the specially-abled people of the state will now study free of cost in the State Institute For Rehabilitation Training And Research (SIRTAR) Rohtak.
  • He elaborated that the institute has waived off the registration fee, monthly fee and hostel fee being levied upon the students since a long time. This decision has been taken in the 5th meeting of ‘SIRTAR’ Governing Body held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. He said that earlier the above fee was being charged on the specially-abled studying in the institute due to which they were facing problems. Special education was being imparted in this institute, including JBT, BEd, PGDRP and other courses. The institute has arrangements for imparting education to about 150 specially-abled students here. Along with this, the limit of miscellaneous expenditure to the Director and Principal of SIRTAR has been enhanced. Under this, now the Director will be able to spend up to Rs 40,000 and the principal up to Rs 10,000 monthly. Sh. Yadav said that an ‘Early Intervention Centre’ would be opened in SIRTAR to check and test the disability of children falling in the age group of 5 to 6 years so that such children can be provided treatment and education. Along with this, approval has also been given to set up a ‘Sensory Integration Unit’ (SIU) in the institute campus for maximum utilization of all sense organs of children with disabilities. Besides this, in-principle approval has also been given to install digital signage display and solar panels in the institute.
  • The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment directed the officers that they should implement all the decisions taken in the meeting at the earliest so that the specially-abled people can avail its benefit soon. He said that this Institute has been created for the benefit of the people of Haryana, so its set target should be fulfilled. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Department, Sh. Vineet Garg, Director General, Sh. Jagdeep Singh Sheoran, Deputy Commissioner Rohtak, Sh. Manoj Kumar, Additional Director General of Health, Dr. VK Bansal, Deputy Director Dr. Aditya, Principal of SIRTAR, Dr. A. D. Paswan, several officers of Employment Department and other departments.
