- Chandigarh, July 6- Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Om Prakash Yadav said that the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in the state will be done according to the new National Scheme for persons with disabilities. Under this Scheme, they will be physically, financially and educationally strengthened.
- In the review meeting of the Department today, Sh. Yadav directed the officers to work accordingly. For this, efforts should be made to identify children and adults with physical disabilities and provide them treatment and aid accordingly. Along with this, Government offices, Hospitals, Police Stations and other buildings should be made accessible and disabled friendly for them so that they can get their work done easily. He also directed to prepare a draft for providing electric tricycles to the persons with physical disabilities.
- Sh. Yadav said that the officers of the Department have been instructed to prepare a plan for the next three months to uplift various categories and beneficiaries. For this, instructions have been given to prepare a new plan for people engaged in sports, cultural and innovation activities. He said that punitive action under IPC Sections can also be taken against the people who harass them.
- The Minister said that earlier 7 types of disability were notified in the country, which has been expanded to 21 by the Central Government. This will provide more benefits to different categories of persons with disabilities. He said that due to the people-friendly policies of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, a financial assistance and pension facility is being provided to 1.80 lakh persons with disabilities in Haryana.
- On this occasion, the Director of the Department Mr. Jagdeep Singh Sheron, Deputy Director, Dr. Aditya and other senior officers were present.
