Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sandeep Singh said that persistent efforts are being made to ensure that maximum number of players from the state qualify Olympics to be held in Tokyo this year.
- Chandigarh, February 14- Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sandeep Singh said that persistent efforts are being made to ensure that maximum number of players from the state qualify Olympics to be held in Tokyo this year. While motivating the players he said that the Olympics are nearing and the qualified players will now have to work even harder for it. Moreover, the government is supporting the players at every step, he added.
- Meanwhile, the Sports Minister, Mr. Sandeep Singh congratulated Mr. Rahul and Mr. Sandeep Kumar from Bahadurgarh and Mahendragarh districts respectively who have qualified for the Olympic Games in the Brisk Walk race. He said that an advance of Rs 5 lakh will be given by the state government for the players who have qualified Olympics. Besides this, the government will provide other facilities to the players for the preparations in Olympics. He said that players should keep their spirits high and stay strong and give their best performance irrespective of winning or losing. Tipping the players he said that defeat can also be turned into victory through hard work.
- Speaking on it, he said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal the Sports Department is making continuous efforts to ensure maximum participation of Haryana players in Tokyo Olympics this time. He said that Rahul of Bahadurgarh and Sandeep of Mahendragarh district have made excellent achievement for the state and country by qualifying for the Olympics. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Sandeep Punia, a resident of Surehti Jakhal of Mahendragarh and Mr. Rahul Rohilla, resident of Indira Market, Bahadurgarh have received the Olympics quota by winning the 20-km men’s race in 1 hour 20 minutes 16 seconds and 1 hour 20 minutes 26 seconds respectively during the National Open Race Walking Competition held at Ranchi. Both the players have been selected for the Tokyo Olympics.
