Chandigarh, Oct 12– In a major-breakthrough in a broad daylight bank robbery in a nationalised bank in Karnal district, Haryana Police has arrested two accused from Himachal Pradesh and recovered two country-made pistols, 10 cartridges, Rs 2,84,500 in cash, a motorcycle used in committing crime from their possession.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that three armed robbers had on October 5, 2021 looted at gun point Rs 10.64 lakh from the Bank of Baroda of Nissing in Karnal.
The arrested accused, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 each were identified as Ankur alias Rinku, a resident of Panipat district and Vikas alias Kashu of district Karnal.
Bank staff informed that three unidentified armed persons entered the branch at around 3.45 pm on October 5, looted Rs 10,64,000 from the bank and fled away on a motorcycle.
Immediately, after getting information, five police teams were constituted to crack the case. Based on intelligence and other inputs, police has cracked the case and nabbed two accused from Kala Amb in Himachal Pradesh and recovered Rs 2,84,500 cash, a motorcycle, two country made pistols and 10 cartridges.
Primary probe revealed that after committing the crime, the accused took rooms on rent at different places in Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. During this, the accused used to take the room for more days but they leave after staying there for a day or two.
Investigations also revealed that both the arrested accused were also absconding in the broad daylight robbery of Rs 15,35,974 from a filling station in village Uchana, Karnal on 12.04.2021. In the year 2012, a case of murder was registered against the accused Ankur in district Panipat. The accused in this case had come out of jail after serving four years of imprisonment. Apart from this, he has already served jail term in 2017 in a robbery case in Ambala. A case of robbery is also registered against the Vikas in Sonipat district. In this case, the accused had come out of jail after serving 9 months’ sentence.
Both the accused were produced in the court and brought on police remand. Third accused in this case has already been identified and efforts are being made for his arrest. Further investigations are underway.
