Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught a Superintending Engineer (SE) and an Accountant of the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad red-handed while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh from a contractor.
SE and Accountant held for taking Rs 1.40 lakh as bribe
Chandigarh, Feb 15– Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught a Superintending Engineer (SE) and an Accountant of the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad red-handed while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh from a contractor.
Sharing the details here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that arrested accused were identified as Ravi Sharma, SE and Ravi Shankar Accountant posted in Municipal Corporation, Faridabad. Both had demanded the bribe for releasing the pending payment of a community center.
While Ravi Sharma, SE was nabbed with Rs 50000 whereas Accountant Ravi Shankar was arrested when he was accepting Rs 90,000 bribe.
Yashmohan, a listed government contractor from Faridabad has filed a complaint stating both the accused were dilly-dallying for clearing his pending bill for the construction of the community center and then asked for a bribe. Acting on the complaint, a team of the Vigilance bureau conducted a raid and nabbed both accused red-handed while accepting a bribe.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered against both the accused in Bureau’s police station, Faridabad. A further investigation is underway.
