Chandigarh, December 26- Japan has shown keen interest in Technical Support and collaboration with Haryana on Climate Change and Environmental issues.

Japanese, Secretary, Environment, Embassy of Japan, Mr. Yuki Yoshida along with Haryana officials today visited Aravalli mountains at Bhondsi Gurugram, Haryana to explore the potential of setting up a Centre of Excellence related to Climate Change, Environmental matters relating to Waste Management, E – Vehicles, Air pollution, Biodiversity Conservation, Land Degradation, to overcome Desertification and other allied areas.

Advisor to Chief Minister for Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Pawan Chaudhary, Managing Director and Ex Country Representative, IUCN, Dr Vivek Saxena discussed about the potential areas of partnership and collaboration. Sh. M. S Malik, APCCF, Sh Subhash Yadav, DFO Training and other officials briefed about the  activities and other available present facilities.

During the visit, Senior official of the Climate Change Division of the German Technical Cooperation, Sh. Ashwin assured cooperation for technical and financial assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany on environmental issues. Head of IUCN India (Business and Biodiversity Program and Leaders for Nature Programme), Ms. Minal Pahuja also expressed her desire to support and partner corporate partnerships through IUCN (Nature Based Solutions Standards) on sustainable challenges.

Advisor to Chief Minister for Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Pawan Chaudhary informed that partnerships under the dynamic leadership of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal, who is also having Environment and Climate Change portfolio and has always been a passionate keen supporter on  conservation matters will enable  Haryana State to lead on Environmental Solutions and Best Practices and technological support at proposed Centre of Excellence, not only to Corporates, Industries and other relevant Stakeholders at National Level but also to other Nations . He said that researchers and officials of International Environmental organisations will have opportunity to access excellent latest facilities to develop solutions for Environmental Challenges, Natural Resource Management, Water Conservation and other allied areas and meeting Country level International commitments on Rio Conventions, Sustainable Development Goals etc.
