Workshop on “Cyber Security Threats & their countermeasures” held

Chandigarh, April 13 – One-day workshop on “Cyber  Security Threats & their countermeasures” was organized today at Haryana-112, SERC Building, Sector-3 Panchkula for the In-charges CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) of all Commissionerates of Police and Districts by Haryana State ISMO (Information Security Management Office) team.

This workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Arshinder Singh Chawla, ADGP Telecom-IT-cum Nodal Officer, CCTNS in the presence of Sh. Himanshu Garg, SP IT, Sh. Girish Bisht, System Executive Officer, DSP IT Sh. Pawan Kumar, SI Rajesh Kumar and other officers/officials of Haryana Police from IT Cell, Police Headquarters.

Dr. Chawla and Sh. Garg briefed all about the information security and cyber threats in the present era of technology and the need to protect the data available in the Computers of Haryana Police.

The members of Haryana ISMO team – Sh. Sudipta Choudhury, CISO, Sh. Amit Beniwal, Sr ISQA, Sh. Paramdeep Singh Bhatia, ISQA and Sh. Sanjay Singh Kuntal, Sr ISTE demonstrated the whole process of hacking and procedures to be safe from cyber-attacks, explained the Cyber Kill Chain and the different types of malware and attacks. The team clarified the queries and doubts of the Police officials / officers about Phishing, Ransomware, Malware, Viruses and Worms etc. Basics related to symptoms of attacks and their containment were also explained.

On this occasion, Dr. Arshinder Singh Chawla honoured the hardworking officers / officials of Haryana Police from all the field units and from CCTNS team at Police Headquarters, Panchkula with the “CCTNS Medals”. He also desired that all should work hard for maintaining the top position of the State in Pragati Dashboard prepared by the National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi each month for all States.
