Chandigarh, February 4 : Reiterating its commitment towards upholding the interest of the farmers of the State, Haryana Government has approved an amount of Rs.561.11 as crop damage compensation to the farmers who have suffered crop damage due to heavy rains, waterlogging and insect attacks, etc. This amount is being distributed to the farmers sequentially.
Under the efficient leadership, visionary thinking, and guidance of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, for the last 7 years, various welfare schemes are being run in the interest of farmers continuously. Apart from the Fasal Bima Yojana, Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana(BBY), Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY) has been implemented by the State Government to ensure compensation crop losses due to adverse weather and natural calamities. The State Government is always standing shoulder to shoulder with the farmers and will ensure that they do not face any financial difficulty.
Divulging more details regarding the compensation, an official spokesperson said that orders were given to all the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to assess the damage caused to the crops of cotton, moong, paddy, bajra and sugarcane due to heavy rains, waterlogging and insect attacks in the state for ‘Special Giridawari Kharif-2021’.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioners have sent the crop damage assessment report to the Government through the concerned Divisional Commissioner and after analyzing the same the Government has approved an amount of Rs.561.11 crore as compensation.
The spokesman said that Rs 172.32 crore has been approved for Hisar district, Rs. 127.02 crore for Bhiwani, Rs 95.29 crore for Fatehabad, Rs. 72.86 crore for Sirsa, Rs 45.24 crore for Charkhi Dadri, Rs. 24.51 crore for Jhajjar Rs. 12.26 crore for Sonipat, Rs. 10.45 crore for Rohtak, Rs. 58.28 lakh for Palwal, Rs 52.05 lakh for Nuh, Rs 3.78 lakh for Karnal and Rs. 10,000 for Gurugram.
It is pertinent to mention here that being the son of a farmer, the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal very well understands the plight of the farmers and many schemes are being implemented to make the farmers financially strong. Haryana is the only state to procure 14 crops at MSP. But due to unseasonal rains and other reasons, many times the farmers have to suffer crop damage.
In order to give fair compensation to the farmers, the Chief Minister had recently announced to increase the crop compensation amount from Rs 12,000 per acre to Rs 15,000. Along with this, an increase of 25 percent was also announced in the slab of compensation for less than this amount. Therefore, Haryana is giving the highest crop compensation amount in the entire country.
