Haryana Power Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh today presided over a review meeting regarding making arrangements of electricity poles and wire connection to give new water tubewell connections in Fatehabad-Sirsa circle.

  • Chandigarh, May 31: Haryana Power Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh today presided over a review meeting regarding making arrangements of electricity poles and wire connection to give new water tubewell connections in Fatehabad-Sirsa circle. During the meeting with officers of the Department, the Minister directed the officials concerned to expedite the work of giving new water tubewell connections in Fatehabad-Sirsa circle in a time bound manner.
  • In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Sh. Pranab Kishore Das, Director (Project), Sh. Virendra Singh Mann, Director (Operation), Sh. Sanjay Bansal, Chief Engineer, Sh. Ashwini Raheja, SE Gurugram, Sh. P.K Chauhan, Chief Engineer Hisar, Sh. Naveen Kumar Verma and other senior officers of the department were present.
  • During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Sh. Pranab Kishore Das asked the concerned officials to increase the manpower on the working sites so as to get the work done by the end of July. Ensuring the quality of the work, he said that Junior Engineers and retired SDOs will visit the sites for the inspection of pole erection work.
  • He also directed the officials to further expedite the wiring and connection work after the erection work of poles. He asked the officials to technically check the stability of erected poles for better durability of erected poles so that farmers would  not face any inconvenience. He said that the officials will also regularly ensure  the required manpower, equipment and material to be used on the working sites.
  • While addressing the media persons after the meeting, the Power Minister said that it has also been discussed to provide uninterrupted power supply to Gurugram and Panchkula. He said that a target has been set up to provide uninterrupted power supply to make these cities inverter-free cities and develop these cities as model cities.
  • He said that it is our priority to address the power cut issues in advance so that  24 hour power supply can be ensured across the State. He said that many cases of power pole damage caused by heavy storms occur in the month of June-July and now marking of the poles is being done to overcome this problem. The Minister said that if this experiment becomes successful in these two cities after identifying and rectifying the obstacles in this project, it will also be implemented in the entire State.
  • He said that our goal is to provide 24-hour power supply to entire Haryana and in the same manner we are providing 24-hour power supply to about 5300 villages across the state. Haryana is among the leading states in the country to provide  electricity in the industrial area and it is our priority to provide all the tubewell connections to all the farmers within 6 months in the State following which the connections will be given in Fatehabad and Sirsa districts by the end of July.
  • He said that about 50,000 tubewell connections have been applied by the farmers, out of which about 35,000 connections have been given and the rest will be given soon. He said that to overcome a major problem of farmers, the State Government has approved 7 companies manufacturing tubewell motors and  farmers can directly purchase their tubewell motors from them. He said that to redress the problem of high power consumption during paddy sowing, a meeting of High Power Purchase committee will be held soon.
