- Chandigarh, March 15– Structural planning, proactive initiatives ensuring wide mobilization of the people of the state has resulted in an overwhelming response to the special vaccination drive held in Haryana today. Haryana under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal and Health Minister, Sh Anil Vij today administered the COVID-19 vaccine to around 1.50 lakh beneficiaries in one day. Considering the overwhelming response the Health Department has decided to observe every Monday as ‘Mega Vaccination Day’.
- Sharing information in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Sh. Rajeev Arora said the state has today administered vaccination to 1.50 lakh beneficiaries. Taking note of the exceptional response to the Vaccination Drive, especially the overwhelming response of the senior citizens, aged above 90 years in the rural areas across the state, the Department has decided to observe every Monday of the week as ‘Mega Vaccination Day’, he added. Elaborating on it further he said that most of the beneficiaries who were administered vaccine today were above 60 years of age and between 45 to 60 years with co-morbidities. The Department has ensured that the Vaccination Centres are in close proximity to people’s residences even in the rural areas and they do not have to travel for which the number of vaccination centres has also been enhanced.
- The Health Department had earlier coordinated with the ASHA Workers and Aanganwadi Workers, other than officers of Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) so as to motivate the beneficiaries above 60 years and those with co-morbidities falling within the age group of 45 years to 60 years to get the vaccine administered. Likewise, similar special drives will be continued so as to mobilize the people of the state, he added.
