Chandigarh, January 30: The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi played an important role in India’s freedom movement by following the path of truth and non-violence his life, and freed the nation from the clutches of Britishers. Gandhi ji was a true patriot and freedom fighter.
This was stated by Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya while paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day at Raj Bhavan on Sunday. He also observed two- minute’s silence to pay his homage to Bapu.
He said the country is celebrating 75 years of independence this year in the form of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav while remembering the great heroes of our freedom struggle. They sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. Mahatma Gandhi inspired millions of Indians to take part in the freedom struggle through Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and Quit India movement. He used non-violence and ‘Satyagraha’ as main weapons for achieving freedom.
Sh. Dattatraya said that there is a need to make the new generation of the country aware of the teachings of Gandhi ji. The teachings and ideals of Gandhi ji are relevant even today for the unity, integrity and strength of the nation. By following his principles, we should work with full commitment to take the country on the path of development. This will be a true tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
