  • Chandigarh, April 20: The fourth edition of ‘Khelo India Youth Games-2021’ will be organized in Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Delhi and Chandigarh from November 21 to December 5, 2021, in which various sports activities under-18 category would be organized.  Besides this, some BRICS Games 2021 would also be organized during Khelo India.   BRICS countries include like Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
  • This decision was taken in the first meeting of the Executive Committee constituted for the Khelo India Youth Games -2021 held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Haryana, Sh. Vijai Vardhan here today. Sh. Satya Narayan Meena, Senior Director, Khelo India, Sports Authority of India also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
  • The Chief Secretary directed the officers concerned to expedite the work related to infrastructure development required for organizing these games. Apart from this, all the concerned departments should work in mutual tandem so as to ensure that these games are organized successfully.
  • The Chief Secretary further directed that the launching ceremony of the Khelo India Games should be organized in compliance with the rules of COVID-19 guidelines.
  • He said that in the ceremony, the eminent players and the representatives of the states whose traditional games will be performed, should also be invited.  Along with this, High Commissioners of the participating countries  should also be invited for the  ceremony.
  • “Arrangements par excellence should be made by the Haryana Government for successful organizing of  Khelo India Games,” Sh. Vijai Vardhan.
  • At the meeting, OSD, Khelo India, Sh. Pankaj Nain informed that 25 types of sports would  be organized in these games to be held in Haryana, including five traditional sports such as Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-ta, Mallakhamba and Yogasana.  Players from the country and abroad will participate in these games.
  • He informed that about 8500 participants would  take part in the ‘Khelo India Youth Games -2021’.  Apart from this, Sports Expo would also be organized.  These games would be organized jointly by the Haryana Government and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
  • It was informed in the meeting that the launch ceremony of Khelo India Games would also be organized soon.  Apart from this, a grand opening ceremony would be organised for the fourth edition of ‘Khelo India Youth Games-2021’.
  • He said that the work of repairing and renovation of multipurpose hall, ground, track etc. for organizing the games is being done at a rapid pace.  Proper arrangements are being made for food and lodging of the players.
  • During the meeting Sh. Satya Narayan Meena assured that Sports Authority of India will extend full cooperation to Haryana Government in organizing the Khelo India Games.  The Authority is constantly in touch with the State Government for  jointly organizing the grand event of Khelo India 2021.
  •  In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, Sh. Alok Nigam, Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry, Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. S.S.  Phulia, Director, Town and Country Planning Department, Sh. K. Makarand Pandurang and other officers were present.
