- Chandigarh March 31 – In view of effective functioning of youth clubs in the state, the Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. Sandeep Singh directed the concerned officials to promote various sports activities so that the youth can become financially empowered along with their social growth. He said that various sports competitions should be organized at district and state levels in the State.
- While presiding over State Level Advisory Committee meeting of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) at his residence in Sector 7 here, the Sports Minister said that besides promoting sports activities, focus should also be given towards empowering mental strength of the youth through NYKS. He said that Nehru Yuva Kendra’s should organize such activities which can inspire the youth and provide them employment opportunities. Besides this, drug abuse awareness should also be made through various programmes led by the State Government. He said that students of Class VIII to XII should also be made aware about drug abuse and they should be motivated to avoid consuming junk food.
- Sh. Sandeep Singh said that Haryana is identified as Sports Hub across the country and Khelo India Games will be organized in Haryana this year. He directed the officials to prepare a list of youth volunteers who are willing to serve in Khelo India Games. He said that other competitions should also be organized at a huge level under Fit India Movement and parents should be encouraged to participate in these events. He said that on the lines of Assembly and Lok Sabha, mock sessions should also be organized in youth clubs so that the youth can get complete information about the proceedings of Parliament in the country. The activities of Clean Village – Green Village Campaign, Jal Jagran Abhiyaan, campaign were discussed in this second meeting of State Level Advisory Committee.
- Among those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. Yogendra Chaudhary, Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dr. Arjun Verma, members of the State Advisory Committee and other senior officials.
