The Haryana Police has arrested six persons including a woman on the charges of drug-peddling and seized 1-kg of opium, over 36-kg of ganja and more than 2-kg chura post in separate incidents in Kurukshetra, Sirsa and Bhiwani districts.

Chandigarh, November 30 – The Haryana Police has arrested six persons including a woman on the charges of drug-peddling and seized 1-kg of opium, over 36-kg of ganja and more than 2-kg chura post in separate incidents in Kurukshetra, Sirsa and Bhiwani districts.
Sharing the details, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that a police team in Kurukshetra had got a tip-off that a woman was attempting to smuggle ganja to addicts. After getting the information, police set up a barricade near Ravidass chowk and nabbed the accused woman. When searched, 6 kg 840 gm of ganja was recovered from her.
In another incident, a team of State Anti Narcotics Bureau in Kurukshetra had seized 2.100 kg of ”ganja’ patti’ from a person at a dhaba, who used to sell the drugs to truck drivers.
In a separate incident, a team of Anti Narcotic cell in Sirsa while patrolling and checking signaled a motorcyclist to stop for checking. Instead of stopping, both riders tried to speed off but were nabbed. On being frisked, 1 kg opium was recovered from their possession.
In another catch, a police team in Bhiwani had arrested two motorcyclists after it recovered 30-kg 130 gm ganja from them. On interrogation, the accused revealed that in order to earn quick bucks, they had bought seized ganja from a person at the rate of Rs 7000 per kg with Rs 2.10 lakh.
Cases under provisions of the NDPS Act were registered against them and further investigation was underway. Haryana Police is continuously cracking down on people involved in illegal trade of drug peddling across the state, he added.
