To fulfill the vision of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, the Forest Department, Haryana has released an amount of Rs. 9,71,92,170  for removing the poles and underground wires and thereby develop the Oxy Van in Karnal.

Forest Department releases Rs. 9.70 crore to Electricity Department

Chandigarh, February 25 – To fulfill the vision of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, the Forest Department, Haryana has released an amount of Rs. 9,71,92,170  for removing the poles and underground wires and thereby develop the Oxy Van in Karnal.

Forest Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal informed that on June 5, 2021, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal had laid the foundation stone of Oxy Van on this 4.5-kilometre long area starting from Sector 4 of Karnal to Madhuban Canal. He said that with the construction of Oxy Van, such a centre of nature would be built for the younger generation which would inspire them to conserve the nature.

Additional Chief Secretary, Forest Department, Sh. A.K. Singh informed that lines have been laid for power supply from 33-KV sub-station, for which transfer and underground cabling will be done by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. An estimated cost of Rs 9,71,92,170 was submitted for it, which was released by the Forest Department on February 23. He said that once the electricity lines are shifted, the construction of Oxy Van will be done at a fast pace.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Sh. Jagdish Chandra informed that 14 types of components will be included in this proposed Oxy Van, which includes Chit Van, Pakshi Van, Antariksh Van, Tapo Van, Aarogya Van, Neer Van, Rishi Van, Smriti Van, Sugandh Van, Amphitheater, Information Centre, Library, Light and Sound Show and a Souvenir Shop.

He shared that Badshahi Drain of Karnal earlier used to supply water for irrigation and drinking upto Delhi. At present, the city’s dirty water is being treated at a sewer treatment plant near Sector-4 of Karnal so as to prevent the supply of contaminated water to Yamuna. He elaborated that the purpose of making Oxy Van is to provide a healthy living environment to the citizens, as well as to make people aware about wide array of plants and herbs and connect them to nature.
