With a giant dip in the fresh positive cases reported in the state of Haryana by almost 71 per cent from 146 fresh COVID infected patients on June 22, 2021 to 41 fresh COVID infected patients on July 17, 2021, the COVID spread is on the decline.

  • Chandigarh, July 18– With a giant dip in the fresh positive cases reported in the state of Haryana by almost 71 per cent from 146 fresh COVID infected patients on June 22, 2021 to 41 fresh COVID infected patients on July 17, 2021, the COVID spread is on the decline.
  • Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the state’s recovery rate has also improved by 0.15 per cent from 98.50 per cent on June 22, 2021 to 98.65 per cent on July 17, 2021. However, the fatality rate has increased by 0.04 per cent from 1.21 per cent on June 22, 2021 to 1.25 per cent on July 17, 2021.
  • Elaborating on the reasons for the slight rise in the fatality rate the spokesperson said that before declaring a COVID fatality an audit is conducted, thus, the deaths are reported after proper fatality audit which is conducted as per the medical guidelines. He shared that though the positivity rate has declined from 0.46 per cent on June 22, 2021 to 0.14 per cent on July 17, 2021 the fatality rate has increased as the fatalities are reported much later after ascertaining the exact cause of the death.
  • It is pertinent to mention here that the deaths declared officially are thoroughly verified and cannot be attributed to the particular day when its information is released in the official figures. So, when there is decline in positive cases reported on the same day, the rise in fatality rate is mainly attributed to reporting of deaths occurred in previous days after proper auditing, added the spokesperson.
  • He further specified that there are 318 deaths reported in 27 days from June 21, 2021 to July 17, 2021.
  • Meanwhile, the administration of vaccine is also being done at a fast pace in the state and the 1,05,24,837 beneficiaries have been vaccinated of which 85,22,732 beneficiaries were administered the first dose and 20,02,105 beneficiaries have been administered the second dose, shared the spokesperson.
