Chief Minister inaugurates developmental projects worth 32 crore in Drang Vidhan Sabha area

Lays foundation stone of Combined office building at Multhan

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated developmental projects worth about Rs. 32 crore at Jhatingari in Drang Vidhan Sabha area of Mandi district. He inaugurated the upgradated Gathasni-Barot Road, Lanjnu Bridge over Uhl river and Barot-Maiot Road constructed under PMGSY Phase-II by spending an amount of Rs 25.19 crore, Rs 1.96 crore and Rs 4.90 crore respectively. At Multhan in Chotta Bhangal area of Baijnath Vidhan Sabha area of Kangra district, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of Combined Office Building at Multhan to be completed by spending an amount of Rs 9.79 crore and also performed Bhumi Pujan of Government Degree College Building at Multhan to be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore.

While addressing a largely attended public meeting at Multhan, the Chief Minister announced opening of a ITI in the area . He also directed the PWD officers to ensure early completion of Bir to Baragaon road. He also announced Rs 30 lakh each for both the Vidhan Sabha areas for construction of roads. He said that ambulance would be provided at CHC Barot, PWD rest house would aslo be constructed at Multan, He announced  that BDO Baijnath would sit for five days at Multan every month to facilitate the people of the area and announced construction of science block at Government Senior Secondary School Lohardi. He said that matter would be taken up  with the Airtel and Jio authorities to setup a tower at Barot for ensuring better network facilities. He said that 40 meter bridge would also be constructed soon on Lohardi road.  He said that helipad would also be constructed in the area.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the area would be developed under the Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme so as to attract more and more tourists to visit this area. Chief Minister said that Barot area has immense tourism potential and if explored properly it could emerge as one of the most popular destination for the tourists. He also shared memories of his first visit to Barot area during his college days with the people of the area. He said that area has undergone sea change during all these years and was poised to emerge as a major tourist destination.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the college building at Multhan would be constructed at the earliest so that students of the area could be benefitted. He said that the present State Government was committed for around and balanced development of the difficult and far off areas. He said that the State Government was laying special stress on construction of the roads and providing connectivity in rural areas. He said that efforts were on to construct Bhubujot road and Bhubujot tunnel as this would give big boost to tourism development in the area. He said that Rs 10 crore has been provided for developing Bir Billing as paragliding destination under the ADB project.

Chief Minister said that the Rs 2100 crore ADB Project sanctioned for the State would be implemented for developing lesser known tourist destinations. He said that he would send a team of Tourism department to visit the area to identify land for creating a facility for stay of the tourists visiting the area.

MLA Baijnath Mulkraj Premi thanked the Chief Minister for performing Bhumi Pujan of the Degree College building at Multhan and also laying foundation stone of Combined Office Building which would be constructed at a cost of about Rs 10 crore. He also thanked the Chief Minister for providing solar lights for the people of Bara Bhangal area. He also detailed a few developmental demands of the area. MLA Drang Jawahar Thakur while welcoming the Chief Minister said that Chief Minister has dedicated and laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 451 crore in Drang Vidhan Sabha area during the last about four years. He also thanked the Chief Minister for construction of bridge connecting Drang and Baijnath vidhan sabha area. He also detailed various developmental demands of the area. MLA Joginder Nagar Prakash Rana, Brig. Khushal Thakur, Chairman Waqf Board Rajbali, Mandal Presidents Mangat Ram and  Pankaj Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal, SP Khushal Sharma were present on the occasion among others.
