Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on behalf of the people of the state on the occasion of martyrdom day at Nalagarh in Solan district today.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also dedicated the Martyrs Memorial built by the Nalagarh Heritage Society in collaboration with general public at the Nalagarh Heritage Park. About Rs. 10 crore have been spent on this heritage park built with public participation in Nalagarh.
He also honored the families of eight martyrs of Nalagarh sub-division on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the country will always be indebted to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country. He said that the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev instilled such a spark of revolution and courage in the minds of the people that even after the independence, these personalities remained a source of inspiration for the youth of entire nation. He said that today we are celebrating Martyr’s Day in the memory of these three revolutionaries. He exhorted the people to implement the ideals of these great revolutionaries in life, which would be a true tribute to all the revolutionaries.
Jai Ram Thakur said the freedom fighters of Himachal have also made an unforgettable contribution in the freedom struggle. He urged the youth to take inspiration from the lives of martyrs and always follow the path of devotion towards duty.
Chief Minister then inspected the heritage park and issued appropriate guidelines regarding its maintenance.
Chief Minister paid tribute to the Ramsaran martyred in the 1962 Indo-China war, Pradeep Singh martyred in the Kargil war of 1999, Jaswinder Singh martyred in the 2002 Operation Parakram, Surendra Singh and Shaheed Ram Ratna martyred in Operation Parakram of 2003, Shiv Singh and Shaheed Gurmel Singh martyred in Operation Parakram in 2019 and Raghubir Singh received martyrdom in Operation Parakram in the year 1976 and also honored their families on the occasion.
He also honored Plant Head, Allen Appliances J.S. Kang and Plant Head of Torrent Pharma Baddi Somen Mehti for their contribution in the construction of this heritage park.
Health, Family Welfare and AYUSH Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, MLA Doon Paramjit Singh Pammi, MLA Nalagarh Lakhwinder Rana, former MLA Nalagarh K.L. Thakur, President, Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank Yogesh Bhartiya, Vice President State Water Management Board Darshan Singh Saini, Vice President State Gau Seva Aayog Ashok Sharma, State President Laghu Udyog Bharti Harbans Patial, BJP District President Ashutosh Vaidya, BJP Mandal Nalagarh President Baldev Thakur, Chief Executive Officer Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority Dr. Richa Verma, Deputy Commissioner Solan Kritika Kulhari, Superintendent of Police Baddi Mohit Chawla, senior officers of state government, office bearers of BJP and BJYM, other dignitaries and families of martyrs were also present on the occasion.
