CM stresses upon preserving treasure of spiritual knowledge of Bhagvad Gita
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the 5th International Geeta Seminar organised by Kurukshetra Development Board at Kurukshetra today. The theme of the three day long Seminar this year is ‘ Satat Astitva aur Shreemadbhagwat Gita Darshan’. This Seminar is being organised on the occasion of International Gita Mahotsav by Haryana Government from 17th to 25th December, 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister stressed upon preserving and promoting the treasure of spiritual knowledge of Bhagvad Gita and underlined the importance of teaching it to younger generation. He said that Geeta is repository of spiritual wealth and teaches us to live our lives according to the principles of Dharma. He said that it also teaches us about practical aspects of life and is relevant in present times also. He said that it teaches us about the principle of Karma and inspire us to accord importance to our duty without expecting results.
He further appreciated that as this year the Seminar is being conducted online and many people are joining through virtual mode from various places in India and abroad. He lauded the endeavour because it will enable young generation to access the wisdom of Geeta. He said that though COVID-19 has posed lot of challenges yet it has united families and people through technology. He said that it has strengthened family bonds especially in villages people united as lot of people came back from various cities in country as well as abroad.
He congratulated the efforts of Haryana government for promoting Bhagvad geeta by organising geeta jayanti which has emerged as a mega event.
Chief Minister also released a book and souvenir on the occasion.
Earlier, Chief Minister performed pooja at Brahmasarovar and participated in the hawan.
A Video message of Governor Haryana Satyadev Narayan Arya was also presented on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor Kurukshetra University Somnath Sachdeva welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Education Minister Haryana Government Kanwar Pal, Aacharya Swami Gyananand Ji , Shankaracharya Ji, Lokesh Muni ji, Mr. David also spoke on the occasion and underlined the importance of Geeta in our lives.
Secretary to Governor Dr. G Anupama detailed out the efforts made by Government for holding the event successfully.
MP Kurukshetra Nayab Singh Saini, MLA Thanesar Subhash Sudha and representatives of Kurukshetra Development Board, District Administration and prominent people of the area were present.
