Ensure Time Bound Completion of developmental Projects : Chief Minister

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur directed the officers to ensure time bound completion of various developmental projects with special emphasis on those projects which were nearing completion. He was presiding over the meeting to review progress and developmental works of Seraj Vidhan Sabha area of Mandi district here today.

Chief Minister said that the officers must ensure top most priority on completion of Chief Minister’s announcements. He said that quality construction must be ensured in all the developmental works and action would be taken against the contractors and officers who compromise with the quality. He said that keeping in view the limited working season in most of the parts of the constituency, work must be speeded up during the working season so that projects could be completed within stipulated period.

Jai Ram Thakur said that officers must also resolve issues related to land for construction of roads particularly under the PMGSY, so that maximum villages could be connected by roads. He said that out of total 247 villages in the constituency 205 have been connected with roads. He said that work under NABARD, CRF and other external aided projects must be completed at the earliest so that people could be benefitted.

Chief Minister said that the designs of various buildings must be prepared in such a way that they are not only energy efficient but also have local aesthetics. He said that the upcoming buildings must have scope for further expansion.

While reviewing the progress of Jal Shakti Department in Seraj Vidhan Sabha area, Chief Minister said that 37 water supply projects including 19 Jal Jeevan Mission, eight projects under NABARD, six Scheduled Castes Sub Plan  and four ADB projects were being under execution in the constituency. He said that out of these eight schemes worth Rs. 13.71 crore have been completed and are ready for inauguration.

Jai Ram Thakur said that augmentation of various water supply schemes in Janjehli area and Gram Panchayat Tandi, Saroa were nearing completion. He directed the officers of Jal Shakti department to complete the work on remaining projects under Jal Jeevan Mission within stipulated period. He said that eight projects worth Rs. 14.83 crore were being executed under NABARD for ensuring better water supply to the people of the area. Six projects worth Rs. 3.70 crore under Scheduled Castes Sub Plan and four projects worth Rs. 35.72 crore were also being implemented under ADB Water Supply Projects.

While expressing satisfaction on achieving the deadline of the projects Chief Minister felt need to expedite work on ADB Water Supply Projects. He said that being a hilly area, there was limited scope for providing irrigation facilities to the farmers. He said that 12 irrigation schemes worth Rs. 12.50 crore were being implemented in the constituency which include six schemes under NABARD. He said that out of these schemes five irrigation schemes worth Rs. 3.40 crore have been completed and are ready for inauguration.

Jai Ram Thakur also asked the officers to ensure timely completion of sewerage scheme for Thunag and Janjehli towns. He said that Rs. 6.80 crore would be spent under sewerage scheme for Janjehli which would cover four Gram Panchayats viz. Dhimkataru, Janjelhi, Tungadhar and Bung. He said that sewerage scheme for Thunag worth Rs. 5.50 crore would facilitate the people of Thunag and Behal panchayats.

Chief Minister also asked the officers to ensure effective implementation of Rs. 50.89 crore Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna in the area so that farmers could go for crop diversification to enhance their economic status. He also directed the officers for ensuring time bound completion of flood protection works in the area.

Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh Thakur assured the Chief Minister that all the projects of Jal Shakti Department would be completed within the stipulated time period.

Principal Secretary PWD Subhashish Panda, Secretary Jal Shakti Vikas Labroo, Special Secretary PWD Arindam Chaudhary, Engineer in Chief PWD Sanjay Sharma, Engineer in Chief Jal Shakti Naveen Puri and other officers also attended the meeting.
