Governor urges public representatives meet the expectations of people
Governor Bandaru Dattatraya on his two day visit to Kinnaur, matched steps with the folk troupe of Kinnaur. During the occasion, he said that his trip to Kinnaur was a unique experience and felt that coming to Himachal was worthwhile. The culture here is truly exquisite and affinity seen in the people of the area cannot be witnessed in any other part of the country. This was Governor’s first visit to Kinnaur, where he was accorded warm welcome.
Addressing the people on the occasion, the Governor said that Kinnaur has its own distinct identity. The rich culture here is quite attractive and its preservation was necessary. He said that the future generation should be made aware of its rich culture, so that they could take pride of their culture. He said that a society survives as long as it remains attached to its culture. He said the mountains, forests and rivers are the identity of the Devbhoomi. Along with culture, special attention should also be given to conservation of nature and cleanliness.
Governor congratulated the newly elected public representatives for victory in recent PRI elections and said that new responsibility of development was on them now, and asked them to contribute significantly for the development at the village level. He said that women play an important role in development. Therefore, women should come forward in policy formulation and development activities, their role and contributions are of utmost importance especially in tribal area. He assured of making all out efforts to extend cooperation for development of the area.
The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the slogan of Vocal for Local, which is more meaningful for the tribal area of Kinnaur. Most of the crafts, weaving and other products are made locally, which require extensive marketing and promotion. On this occasion, Officiating Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ashwani Kumar welcomed the Governor. The newly elected representative of Panchayati Raj Institutions and other officers of the district administration and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
