Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar today visited the Regional Horticulture Research and Training Station (RHRTS) at Craignano (Mashobra) at Shimla. Lady Governor Angha Arlekar was also present on the occasion.
While expressing contentment over the largest germplasm centre having 276 varieties of apple, 79 varieties of pear and 46 varieties of cherry, he said that focus should be given for transfer of technologies from lab to land. He asked to develop indigenous varieties of apples.
Shri Arlekar also visited the display apple orchard set up in the station. He also inspected the laboratories and appreciated the efforts of officers and staff of the institute for proper maintenance of the institute. He appreciated the initiatives and research work being carried out in the center.
Associate Director, Regional Horticultural Research & Training Station, Mashobra, Dr. Dinesh Thakur welcomed the Governor and briefed about academic, research and extension activities of the Center. He said that fruit growers were relying on the recommendations and other advisory services of this station in their day to day orchard operations.
Dr. Neena Chauhan, Sr. scientists and other research fellows were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Governor also visited Nature Park at Mashobra.
