Justice Satyen Vaidya sworn in as Himachal HC judge, Governor administers oath

Justice Satyen Vaidya was sworn in as the Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court here today. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in a simple but an impressive ceremony held at Raj Bhawan. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Mohammad Rafiq were also present on the occasion.

The ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhawan, where Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh conducted the proceedings of oath ceremony and read out the warrant of Appointment issued by the Hon’ble President of India regarding appointment of Justice Satyen Vaidya as Judge of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh.

Secretary to the Governor Vivek Bhatia obtained the signature of the Governor and Hon’ble Judge on the oath form.

Lady Governor Angha Arlekar, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Chairperson, Human Right Commission Justice P.S. Rana, GOC-in-C ARTRAC Lt. General S.S. Mahal, Advocate General Ashok Sharma,  Mayor, MC Shimla Satya Kaundal, senior officers of the State Government, Court officials and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.

BIO DATA

Justice Satyen Vaidya was born on 22.12.1963 at Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Did his schooling from Lady Irwin School Shimla and Government Boys Senior Secondary School Lalpani Shimla. Graduated from Government Degree College for boys Shimla and obtained a degree of Law from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh in 1986. Practised in District Courts and High Court in all Branches of Law. Remained Legal Advisor-cum-Standing Counsel for Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, Himachal Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation, Municipal Corporation Shimla and various other Boards, Corporations and Societies. Conducted arbitrations for Government of Himachal Pradesh as well as Private Parties. Remained trained Mediator and acted as such in a large number of cases. Remained actively associated with various Legal Aid Programmes. Delivered various guest lectures at Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy and Himachal Institute of Public Administration. Appointed as amicus curiae by the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in many cases. Designated as Senior Advocate in 2015. Elevated as an Additional Judge of Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh and assumed the office on 26.06.2021
