While presiding over the Himachal Achievers-2021 Award Function of a Hindi daily newspaper here today, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that Amar Ujala every year organises an event to honour the achievers of different fields which was a commendable gesture. He said that media has always played a pivotal role in success of any democracy and even society. He said that Amar Ujala has always upheld principle of profession and high standard of professionalism.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Covid-19 pandemic adversely affected world economy and media was also worse hit by it. He said that during the pandemic media played a constructive role in educating the society regarding sensitizing the people of steps to be taken to check spread of coronavirus.
Chief Minister said that all the achievers have also played a major role during the pandemic in their respective fields. He said that Amar Ujala has always strived hard to maintain professionalism while reporting. He said that the State Government has decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year of the Statehood in a befitting manner. He said that one such event would be dedicated to the growth and changing Media witnessed during the last fifty years in the State. He said that the whole year would be dedicated to all the achievers who have contributed for the development and progress of the State.
Jai Ram Thakur expressed hope that the achievements of the award winners would motivate others to perform better in their respective fields.

Editor Rakesh Bhatt welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. He said that although the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected the world economy, but now the derailed economy was gradually coming back on track. He said that the efforts of the State Government in this direction were indeed commendable.
