Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Rajinder Garg appreciated the services of the corporation in ensuring supply of food grains to every place in the State during the Corona pandemic. He was presiding over the review meeting of Food, Civil Supplies Department and Corporation here today.
He said that the quality of PDS products should not be compromised and rates should also be kept reasonable and asked to focus on increasing the business.
Rajinder Garg directed officers of the corporation to strengthen the system of civil supplies system and said that the strategy should be devised to curtail the operational cost so that it could become a profit earning body. He also directed to place the indent order well in time so that the supplies are received in the godowns of the State by 10th of every month. He said that efforts should be made to open new civil supplies shops in more hospitals of the State.
Managing Director Civil Supplies Corporation Lalit Jain made a presentation on various activities of the corporation and detailed various new initiatives and ventures being undertaken by the corporation with a view to increase its income. He said that the corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the convergence energy services limited for the supply of products related to energy solution. Besides this, agencies/vendors have also been empanelled for the supply of fire fighting appliances and related accessories, different types of furniture items, disinfectant devices along with agarbatti and dhoop.
Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs C Paulrasu, Executive Director Civil Supplies Corporation Dr. Tanuja Joshi were also present in the meeting along with other senior officers of Department and Corporation.
