Urban Development Minister takes stock of works under Smart City and Amrut
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that most of the works including parking and over bridges under the AMRUT and Smart City Mission will be completed by 31st March, 2022. He said that tube settlers would start working by December 15 to resolve the issue of siltation in Shimla Giri.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said this while reviewing the works of Smart City and AMRUT with the officers of Shimla Municipal Corporation, Shimla Water Management Limited, here today. A detailed discussion on each project took place in the meeting.
Shri Bhardwaj said that special emphasis was being laid on widening the roads and making small parking lots in Shimla city. The parking work with a capacity of about 150 vehicles under Amrut Mission will be completed by 31st March, 2022. He directed the officers to complete the Sanjauli check over bridge by 31st March, 2022 and to complete the over bridge being built under Sanjauli college by next month. He also directed to make ramps in Sanjauli Foot Over Bridge and explore the possibility of accelerators.
The Minister directed to develop Rani Jhansi Park (Ladies Park) on the lines of amusement park in big cities and Rs. 50 lakh has been sanctioned for the park. He said that selfie points and necessary items for the children should be setup in the park.
During the meeting discussion on 30 small parking lots of 450 vehicles being built under Smart City were also held. He said that these parking would be completed by 31st March, 2022. He said that works worth about rupees one thousand crores would be done under the Smart City Mission in Shimla and most of them were under progress.
Director Urban Development Manmohan Sharma, Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashish Kohli and other officers were present in this meeting.
