In one to one interaction with the Vice-Chancellors of various universities through WhatsApp video call, today, Governor Bandaru Dattatraya lauded the efforts of few universities who had ensured online classes.
He also reviewed the present situation, took feedback and gave necessary directions.
The Governor directed to share the list of volunteers, either students or professors to district administration so that their services could be availed as and when required.
Bandaru advised them to make maximum use of social media groups for sending instructions, advisories and other information to the students. He expressed happiness that many universities were doing well in this direction and discharging their responsibilities at this crucial time.
The Governor also stressed more on online classes and said that the hostels could be used as isolation centers in the future if the situation demands. The Governor exhorted the other universities to take up online classed on the analogy of Technical University, Hamirpur.
During the interaction, Prof. S.P. Bansal, Vice-chancellor, Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur informed the Governor that the university has completed 80 percent of its curriculum through online classes.
Prof. Bansal said that the university has developed its own portal and to date more than one lakh has visited it. He said that as per the instructions of the Governor, the university has focused on online classes.
He informed that 50 beds of the university were provided for Quarantine Center and district administration has been proposed to make hostels as isolation centers. He said that 15 professors of the university have offered for voluntary services and every student of the university was voluntarily contributing 100 rupees to COVID fund.
Prof. Sikandar Kumar, VC of HP University apprised that the university was conducting on-line classes and was being reviewed regularly. He said that 12 hostels could be converted into isolation centers if needed and 2000 beds would be provided in case of quarantine.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar Gupta, VC, Maharaja Agrasen University, Dr. Arun Sharma, VC, Bahara University, Prof. C.L. Chandan, VC, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cluster University, Mandi and Dr. Surendra Kashyap, VC, Atal Bihari Medical and Research University, Mandi also informed the Governor about the university.
