Media Report Of Scam In Promotions Of Forest Corporation Baseless And Fallacious

Punjab Forests Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on Tuesday strongly contradicted the news in a section of press regarding scam in promotions of Forests Corporation and termed the news as fallacious , baseless and faceless.

In a statement issued here, the Minister clarified that he didn’t do promotions of forest corporation. The Minster said that Managing Director of the Punjab State Forest Corporation Limited was the competent authority to promote project officer and other subordinate staff of forest corporation and the MD was appointed at the level of the Chief Minister.

Me Dharamsot further stated that the MD Forest Corporation issued promotions and transfers of eligible officials to ensure the smooth functioning of the corporation. He clarified that there was no role of Forest Minister in promotions of officials of forest corporation. He also pointed out that the Sadhu Singh Sandhu was the MD of Forest Corporation while the news carried Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.

Pertinently, there was no promotion of Project Officer and Deputy Project Officer in Forest Corporation since last four years and requisite work was taken temporarily from officials on these vacant posts. The matter to promote Project Officer and Deputy Project Officer was under consideration of Department’s Promotion Committee since June 2020. The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) toone decision of promotions after due consideration of record of project officers.

Notably, the DPC considered the record of officials as per seniority for the posts, which will be lying vacant on September 30, 2020 and November 30, 2020 and the DPC has promoted the eligible candidates to ensure the seamless functioning of the corporation.
