Chandigarh October 4 : In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police has busted a terror module of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) by arresting two militants on Sunday namely Makhan Singh Gill@ Amli and Davinder Singh @ Happy, both residents of village Noorpur Jattan, Hoshiarpur district. Police have seized 2 sophisticated arms and ammunition, including one MP5 sub-machine gun (with two magazines and 30 live rounds) and one 9mm pistol (with two magazines and 30 live rounds), besides one white colour Etios car (PB-11-BQ 9994), 4 mobile phones and an internet dongle.

Disclosing this today, DGP Punjab Dinkar Gupta said during the preliminary investigations, Makhan @ Amli disclosed that they were in touch with Canada based Harpreet Singh of Canada who had instigated them to raise a terror module in Punjab to carry out terrorist killings. According to Makhan Amli, who has earlier been a close associate of BKI chief Wadhawa Singh, Canada based Harpreet, a KZF operative, is a frequent visitor to Pakistan and he’s a close aide of Pak based KZF chief Ranjeet Singh @ Neeta. The accused further disclosed that the above arms and ammunition had been arranged for them by Ranjeet Neeta through his associates. A couple of other foreign based terrorist handlers from Germany and the USA had also figured in the module, who were involved in transferring funds from abroad to Makhan @ Amli through different money transfer services, including Western Union and other funding channels as well, added Gupta.

DGP further disclosed that Makhan Singh @ Amli was a hardcore pro-Khalistan militant who had been earlier arrested by Punjab Police for his involvement in smuggling in arms consignments into India and various terror related offences. ‘Amli has been trained in Pakistan and he has earlier stayed in USA during 1980s and 1990s. He has been very closely associated with the Pak based Babbar Khalsa International chief, Wadhawa Singh Babbar and stayed with him in Pakistan for over 14 years”, he added.

Gupta disclosed that a case FIR no. 204 dated 04.10.2020 under sections 120-B, 121, 152 IPC, 25/ 54/ 59 Arms Act, r/w sections 17, 18, 18-B, 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act, has been registered at PS Mahalpur, Hoshiarpur district. He added that Amli had been engaging in various terror and other criminal activities in the past. As many as 7 cases had been earlier registered against him.

Its learnt that a case FIR no. 30 in PS Mehtiana, Hoshiarpur district was registered against Makahn @Amli on 16.05.2010 u/s 25, 54, 59 Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Besides, another FIR 24 was registered against him by SSOC Amritsar u/s 25, 54, 59 Arms Act and 3, 4, 5 of Explosive Substances Act on 25.07.2010. Similarly an FIR no. 152 was booked against him on 18.10.2010 at PS Sadar, Hoshiarpur district u/s 25, 54, 59 Arms Act and 3, 4, 5 of Explosive Substances Act r/w 17, 18, 19, 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Apart from this, he has an NDPS case against him vide FIR no. 76 of PS Mahilpur, Hoshiarpur district dated 11.06.2017 u/s 18, 25, 61, 85 of NDPS act. In addition to this, another FIR no. 163 had also been registered against him at PS Machhiwara, police district Khanna u/s 4, 5 of Explosive Substances Act”, Gupta pointed out.

Dinkar Gupta added, that based on the inputs about the disruptive designs of certain pro-Khalistan elements,who had plans to disturb peace and communal harmony in the state by launching terror attacks, security forces across the State had launched a major drive to conduct raids and checking the movement and whereabouts of members of various terrorist modules busted in the past. The current breakthrough was the result of these concerted efforts and the drive launched in the recent past, said the DGP.
