Punjab Police Cracks Several Cases Of Vehicle Thefts By Arresting Inter-State Gang Of Thieves

PUNJAB POLICE CRACKS SEVERAL CASES OF VEHICLE THEFTS BY ARRESTING INTER-STATE GANG OF THIEVES

Chandigarh, October 6:

Punjab Police today busted an inter-state gang of vehicle lifters who used to steal Mahindra Bolero Pick up and other vehicles from states of Punjab & Haryana.

Disclosing this here today, SSP Khanna Harpreet Singh said on the basis of secret inputs, a team of Khanna Police laid a trap near village Chomon, PS Maloud and apprehended five persons with the stolen vehicles.

He informed that the arrested persons were selling spare parts of these stolen vehicles at scrap godown of Amrik Ram and Vicky Ram at Model Town Maloud after dismantling the vehicles.

SSP Harpreet Singh apprised that under the supervision of Manpreet Singh SP-l Khanna and Hardeep Singh DSP Payal,  Inspector Karnail Singh SHO Payal and Inspector Gurmail Singh Incharge CIA Khanna alongwith Police Party have apprehended these robbers.

He further added that the accused have been identified as Naresh @ Kalu of village Biran, PS Tosam, Bhiwani district in Haryana, Neeraj of Sheetal Nagar Rohtak, Lakhvir Singh @ Lakhi of village Bhasod, Sangrur district, Amrik Ram and Vicky Ram from Maloud, district Ludhiana. He added that Police have recovered two stolen Bolero Pick ups (HR-37-E-3310 & PB-I I-BR-6285) from their possession.

He further informed that during the interrogation, the accused revealed that they had stolen these vehicles from Ambala along with their partners Amrik Ram, Vicky Ram, and Deepak. In addition to this, they have also admitted that they had stolen many vehicles from the area of Ambala, Hisar, Patiala, Sangrur, Dhuri.

It has came to light that they used to dismantle the stolen vehicles and further sold their spare parts to accused Amrik Ram for 50-60 thousand rupees.

SSP stated that this interrogation led to the sealing of the godown belonging to accused Ram where these accused used to store stolen vehicles, spare parts and dismantle them in pieces to sell it further in the market.  Furthermore, they are still being quizzed and there is a possibility of major disclosures as well as remaining accused would be arrested soon.

In this regard, a case FIR no 71 u/s 379/411/201 IPC at PS Maloud was registered against the above said accused.

He revealed that many pending cases are being traced out with their arrest. However, several cases pending against them have been resolved with the arrest of these vehicle lifters. Earlier, 25 FIRs were registered against them in Haryana and 7 FIRs in Punjab.
