2200 government schools selected for National Green Crops Program
Decision to send funds to schools on Singla’s instructions
Chandigarh, April 1
On the directions of Punjab Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, the School Education Department has decided to release more than one crore for the implementation of National Green Crops Program in the government schools.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the school education department said that 2200 government schools across the state have been selected for the implementation of National Green Crops Program 2020-21 and 100 schools have been selected from each district. An amount of Rs. 1,15,50,000 is being released to these schools. Out of this amount Rs.5000 has been provided for each Eco Club while Rs.25,000 per district has been provided for the implementation and monitoring of this program.
Under this program, awareness drive will be started about protection and conservation of environment and solid waste management. Important environmental days like World Environment Day, World Wetland Day, Earth Day etc. will be celebrated in schools and slogan, drawing and poster competitions related to these days will be also conducted. Besides this, students will participate in quiz competitions under ‘Prakriti Khoj’. Under this program plantation drive of saplings in schools and other places will be commenced, along with cleaning campaign.
