Balbir Sidhu directs Civil Surgeon, Gurdaspur to submit report for delay to treat rape victim
Assures strict departmental action will be taken against the erring officers
Chandigarh, January 21:
Taking serious note of the incident in which SMO Dr. Chetna and Medical Officers in Civil Hospital, Gurdaspur allegedly refused to examine the rape victim, the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on Thursday directed the Civil Surgeon, Gurdaspur to submit the report in 3 days.
While presiding over the Civil Surgeons Review meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Mr. Sidhu said that there is no issue of jurisdictional limits in the examination of rape case at the hospitals. He said that it’s also the responsibility of Civil Surgeons to ensure the implementation of guidelines in all such serious incidents.
The Minister also assured that strict departmental action will be taken against the erring officers on the behalf of the report to be submitted by the Civil Surgeon.
