Crossed Target Of 5 Lakh Vaccinations For A Single Day On July 3, As Many As 78 Lakh Doses Administered So Far Vikas Garg

TARGETS EXCEEDED IN LUDHIANA, PATIALA, HOSHIARPUR , MUKTSAR , GURDASPUR, MOHALI, KAPURTHALA & PATHANKOT

Chandigarh, July 3:

In the aftermath of Mission Fateh, the flagship program of the Punjab Government for combating Covid-19 pandemic, the vaccination campaign has also gathered rapid pace now.

Disclosing this here today in a press communique, the State Nodal Officer for Covid vaccination Vikas Garg said that the State Government today (on July 3) crossed the fixed target of 5.14 lakh vaccinations by vaccinating more than 5 lakh people. With this, as many as 78 lakh doses of vaccinations have been administered so far in the State. The figures pertain to people with more than 18 years of age besides the priority groups.

The State Nodal Officer further said that the targets are being achieved across the State owing to the encouragement given to the doctors and health workers by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as well as the Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu. The Chief Minister divulged that the State Government has also requested the Union Government for increased supply of the vaccines in order to fasten the pace of vaccination for emerging as winners in the war against Covid.

The spokesperson further said that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh congratulated all the doctors and health personnel of the State as well as everyone in the district administration on this great achievement. “It shows that people of Punjab are coming forward to be vaccinated and that there is no vaccination hesitancy anymore. I appeal to the Health Ministry in Government of India to ensure steady supply of vaccine to Punjab to carry forward this momentum.”

Pointing out further, Mr. Garg said that at the time of filing this report, many districts in Punjab have performed exceedingly well due to the untiring hardwork and toil of the Civil and Medical authorities of the respective districts. The districts of Ludhiana, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Muktsar,Gurdaspur, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Kapurthala and Pathankot  overwhelmingly surpassed the targets creating a hope that Punjab may soon be able to cover its target population. As data is still being uploaded on COWIN portal, Punjab is set to achieve a milestone by administering 6 lakh doses in a single day.
