Chandigarh, June 7:
In view of the third possible COVID-19 wave and in order to ramp up the oxygen infrastructure in Punjab, the department of Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) has procured 3000 oxygen concentrators (OC) from international market with assistance of the World Bank. These oxygen concentrators are procured from a leading company and can work at 10 litres per minute (LPM).
Divulging the details, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Razia Sultana informed that the first consignment of 500 oxygen concentrators has arrived in the State and has been handed over to Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) today. The next consignment of 1000 OC’s would be received by 15th June and another consignment of 1500 OC’s can arrive by 30th June, she added.
The Minister said that the allocation of all these 3000 OC’s is being done to District Hospitals SOH’s/and CHC’s by the Health Department. She expressed that WSS Department has made a small and humble contribution to the State in helping manage the oxygen crisis in the state due to COVID pandemic.
