Chandigarh, August 31:
Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on Tuesday distributed sports kits among youths of 16 villages of Sahnewal area in district Ludhiana.
The sports kits have been handed over to the youths in village Baliewal, Miani, Ratangarh, Fatehgarh Jaatan, Fatehgarh Gujraan, Jeonewal, Boothgarh, Kaalsa Kala, Kaalsa Khurd, Hadiwal, Satteaana, Bhupana, Ghumana, Mahal Ghumana, Khanpur and Bahadurpur.
Addressing the gathering in these villages, Bindra said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led government was making all out efforts to promote sports in the state as these could play an important role in wiping out the curse of drugs by distributing sports kits among the youths.
He said that Punjab government was already making massive efforts to promote sports across the state by distributing free sports kits, organizing tournaments, ensuring nutritious diets to players, appointment of coaches and building infrastructure, and has recently bestowed Olympics medalists and participants with around Rs.30 crores.
Bindra also exhorted the youth to come forward and support the state government for making Punjab a front ranking state in the country.
