Sangrur folks cheer as government scraps GVK’s power purchase agreement

Express gratitude to Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Vijay Inder Singla and entire cabinet

Chandigarh/Sangrur, October 31:

After waiving off electricity bills up to 2 KW of all the consumers, the Congress led state government has now scraped power purchase agreement (PPA) with G.V.K. Goindwal Sahib, signed by the erstwhile SAD-BJP government going against the interests of the people of the state. People of the state, especially Sangrur folks welcomed these dynamic decisions and expressed gratitude towards the state government and the Cabinet Minister Mr. Singla.

Divulging further, Mr. Singla said that due to this PPA, the Punjab government had to pay Rs.07.52 per unit to the power company even when the power was not being generated in the thermal plant. Now the state government has received two tenders relating with the solar based power generation at the rate of Rs.02.33 per unit and Rs.02.50 per unit. Hence, the Coal generated power from Goindwal Sahib Thermal plant will not be required as there was a shortage of coal in the country, which makes power generation expensive and pollutes the environment as well.

Mr. Singla said, the Congress government was moving towards fulfilling it’s poll promises and now, the people were hopeful that they would get cheap power, adding that each poll promise made to the people would be unfulfilled by all means.

Mr. Singla said that a large number of people of Punjab have been greatly relieved by the waiving off outstanding bills with electricity connections up to 2 KW.  Such decisions of the state government have given big relief to the people of the state and enabling them to improve their lives, when rising inflation by the Modi government oppressing people.

Meanwhile, the Sangrur residents thanked Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the entire Cabinet and Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla, said that the Congress government has done what it has promised and they are hopeful that the rest of the promises will be fulfilled soon.
