Vijay Inder Singla mourns death of women protesters at Tikri Border

Salute indomitable spirit of farmers and wholeheartedly stand with them: Cabinet Minister Singla

Chandigarh, October 28:

Punjab Public Works and Administrative Reforms Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Thursday, expressed grief over the incident which resulted in the death of three women protesters while injuring two others.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said, “The news from Tikri Border is heart wrenching as three women were killed and two were injured by a speeding truck. My heart goes out to the farmers who have been weathering all kinds of storms since the past year and have been struck with another tragedy yet again.”

The cabinet minister said that it was very unfortunate that the BJP government was not paying any heed to the demands of the farmers who were protesting against the draconian black laws imposed by the BJP leaders to benefit corporate houses. He said that the farmers have had to put up with a lot of arbitrary use of power by the state and have resisted them patiently. Singla said he salutes the indomitable spirit of the farmers and wholeheartedly stands with them to support their cause, no matter what happens.

Vijay Inder Singla said that the Congress led State Government has been standing by the farmers in every situation right from the beginning of the agitation and apart from ensuring justice, every possible assistance will be extended to the victim’s families. He said that earlier their Government has ensured financial assistance to the families of the farmers who had been martyred in the farmers protest. He added that besides the financial aid, their government has also been providing government jobs to kin of each victim family and will continue to help the farmers in every way they can.
