Specialized training for Master Trainer Volunteers to further train 15,000 Corona volunteers to thwart probable third COVID wave

Chandigarh, August 31:

To train 15000 Corona Volunteers deputed in the state to effectively contain probable third COVID wave, 165 Master Trainer Volunteers (MTVs) were imparted specialized training today during the state level training workshop at Mohali.

A total of 165 volunteers from 150 blocks of the state and cities participated in the workshop conducted by the Youth Services Department in collaboration with the Health Department at Kisan Vikas Chamber Mohali. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Principal Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Services and presided over by Mr. Kumar Rahul, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and Mission Director NHM. He was accompanied by Director Sports Mr. DPS Kharbanda, Director NHM Dr. Areet Kaur and Miss Habiba and Miss Tripat Kaur from UNICEF.

In his key address, Mr. Chaudhary informed said that the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had directed to form the groups of rural and urban corona volunteers across the state under Mission Fateh 2.0 and the Youth Services Department has formed groups of 15000 Corona Volunteers in all the villages and urban wards of the state. He said that one MTV has been assigned from each block for specialized training, after which he would further impart the training to these groups. These Corona volunteers will play a key role during the possible third wave and work in tandem with Quick Response Teams.

The representatives of the Health Department stressed upon the need to be more aware of the possibility of a third wave of Corona pandemic. The Master Trainer Volunteers were apprised about the guidelines of the health department, besides showing them awareness videos. A special video on corona produced by UNICEF was also telecasted on screen to make these MTVs aware of the intricacies of the corona pandemic and the importance of precautions to be taken care of. This was followed by a question answer session and prizes were also distributed to the winners. On this occasion, Assistant Director Youth Services Chandigarh Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, Deputy Director Dr. Kamaljit Singh Sidhu, Assistant Director Barnala Mr. Vijay Bhaskar, Assistant Director Sangrur Mr. Arun Kumar and Assistant Director Jalandhar Mr. Jaspal Singh was present.
