VIGILANCE ARRESTS ASSISTANT JAIL SUPDT. FOR TAKING BRIBE
Chandigarh, October 29: State Vigilance Bureau arrested an Assistant Jail Superintendent Harbans Singh posted at Modern Jail Faridkot for taking bribe of Rs. 15000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) Punjab said accused Assistant Jail superintendent (AJS) as arrested on the complaint of Satwinder Singh of village Tehna, Faridkot district. The complainant has informed the VB that the accused AJS was demanding bribe of Rs. 15,000 not to register police case against his nephew after recovery of mobile phone from him who is lodged inside jail barrack.
After verifying his information, a vigilance team laid a trap and the accused AJS was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under the section of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station, Ferozepur and further investigation is under progress.
