Chandigarh, October 10: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a MC Inspector and his middle man red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 25000.
Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said Sunil Kumar Gulati, Inspector posted at Municipal Corporation, Patiala and his middle man Rakesh Behal of Patiala have been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Jaspreet Singh of village Nandpur, Patiala district.
He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and informed that the accused Inspector was demanding Rs. 50,000 to allow him to open new side door in his shop. He further added that he had already paid Rs. 40,000 to the accused inspector.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the middle man was caught red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.25000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
The spokesman said a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
